The forest may be hearing the sound of silence. A recent study led by University of Hawaii-Hilo researcher Kristina Paxton, reveals a quieter forest with fewer distinct honeycreeper calls. The main reason being that honeycreeper numbers are falling, but the songs themselves have become less diverse more infrequent.
