New Interview series – Voices in Conservation
Voices of Conservation is an interview series sharing the stories, experiences, and knowledge of the people working to understand and protect Kauaʻi’s native species and ecosystems. Featuring both current conservationists and longtime researchers, the series connects the history of conservation on Kauaʻi with the work happening today and explains the challenges ahead.
Dennis Cabral is an extraordinary artist who paints Kauai’s forest birds as a means to share his love for the birds and encourage others to care for them.
A volunteer with the @kauaiforestbirds recovery project, Dennis was born and raised on a Kauai sugar plantation, where his love for birds began.

Now, sadly, we’ve lost over 75% of our native forest birds, so Dennis uses his art to raise awareness and support the conservation efforts of the Kauai Forest Bird Recovery Project.
