The Garden Island Newspaper covers this most “egg-cellent” team as they receive an award for collecting ‘akikiki eggs and developing a conservation breeding program for one of the rarest birds on Kaua’i. To find and collect eggs, the team must hike through rugged terrain in damp weather, carrying ladders that must then be scaled high into the the tree tops. It is really amazing that they are able to find the eggs of the rarest bird on Kaua’i in the middle of the forest. To learn more about this amazing team and their efforts, read the full story (Saving Kaua’i’s Rare Birds) in the Garden Island.

Team members Lisa Cali Crampton and Justin Hite are also highlighted for their role in the “Saving ‘Akikiki from Extinction” Team in a recent article on our blog: 2018 Recovery Champions.
